To run a socket server within a Microsoft Device Emulator hosted Windows CE image follow these steps: - Install 'Virtual Machine Network Services' with your active network interface. (To get the 'Virtual Machine Network Services' you have to install the entire Microsofts VirtualPC 2007 environment.) - Start the Device Emulator and check the configuration as following image shows. The selected network card is the actively used one on the hosting PC. - Then a network interface should appear within the Windows Status bar in the right lower corner. Check the IP Address configuration. If you use DHCP it should receive an address automatically. - After these steps you have full both directional TCP/IP network connectivity between the hosting PC and the Emulator hosted Windows CE image.
